The Uyghur International Union, also known as Uyghur International, started its activities in Washington in 2020 and is a program and project-based organization aimed at advocating for the freedom, human rights, and democracy of the Uyghur people in their homeland, Uyghuristan. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen the national identity, development, and unity of the Uyghur diaspora worldwide through education, culture, media, and humanitarian work. Comprised of dedicated, patriotic, and sincere young intellectuals, the union operates multiple branches and projects.
The Uyghur Union comprises a group of young, volunteer intellectuals of Uyghur descent and non-Uyghurs, located worldwide. To circumvent potential internal competition and conflicts among the Uyghur groups and prevent repercussions for their families residing in their homeland, a significant number of members have chosen to operate anonymously, eschewing personal recognition or acknowledgment for their work. This exemplifies the upright and sincere disposition of the contemporary Uyghur diaspora, reflecting their unwavering dedication to their cause.
